Born
in Santuario, Risaralda, Colombia, Jose Ramiro Villada
immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1984 searching for an opportunity
in life and his passion.
The
first opportunity was presented to him through working at an Italian
establishment called Paradiso Il Inferno in London.
Working as a busboy for (1) one year, he decided to leave Paradiso
and pursue his culinary and languages interests. Ramiro, as he
prefers to be named, accepted an opportunity to work at Cafe
Rouge in Cambridge, England. While working at Cafe
Rouge for (3) years, the chain restaurant offered him formal training
in Paris, France, where the chain restaurant is based from. During
this time, his development and preparation of Italian and French
cuisine had emerged. In 1988, The
Ark Restaurant recognized his skills and emerged
as one of its chefs. After (8) years, Ramiro decided to be with
his family — in Long Island, New York.
After
working as the principal chef in establishments throughout Long
Island including Benny's Ristornate in Westbury
and Cafe Picasso in Williston Park, Ramiro decided
to make his opportunities and passion come to fruition.
In
May of 2002, La Finca Restaurant in Hicksville was established.
La
Finca Restaurant has
been in open since then and proudly serving Colombian food to
all of the communities here in Long Island.
